Organized and produced by Laurent Coignard, this eighth concert in the Chœurs Éternels series will be given at l’église Notre-Dame de Boiscommun in Boiscommun, France.
During the day, breakfast in the marketplace; in the evening, grand opera. The Staatstheater Mainz, in cooperation with mainzplus Citymarketing and the Kultursommer Rheinland-Pfalz, invites you to an opera night at the cathedral. While the sun slowly sets in the middle of the city, well-known arias of Italian and French opera, duets, overtures will be heard as well as arias of the lighter muse.
In addition, the singers of the Staatstheater Ensemble together with the Philharmonic State Orchestra Mainz will give you a preview of the new opera season with various musical excerpts. General Music Director Hermann Bäumer will take over the musical direction. Intendant Markus Müller will be moderating the program - on a hopefully balmy summer evening.
Featuring Philippe Do as Don Carlos
Elisabeth Stöppler's staging of the five-stroke Italian version captures the complexity of the characters from the past, Schiller's poetry and Verdi's musical drama. The imeventive rooms created by Hermann Feuchter make the liveliness of French nature as palpable as the cold of the Spanish court.
